We asked what she loves about dance and what the Alaskan community means to her. Here’s what she shared:
“The reason I love dance is because it’s always been a place where I can escape from reality. Dance allows me to express how I feel when I can’t find the words. It brings me so much joy and so much more so when I’m with other dancers because of all the love and support within the community.”

here is what she said about dance and her community.
“I love dance because it gives me a sense of freedom that nothing else can. I always feel beautiful and capable when I dance, and it allows me to take my mind off of whatever is bothering me outside of the studio. Dance has also given me an amazing community, and I’ve formed some of the most valuable friendships I’ve ever had.”

“Dance is such a big part of my life, and I love it for so many reasons. I love feeling the music and pushing myself to the limits in class to become a better version of myself in dance and outside of it. I also love the dance community I’m surrounded. The friends I’ve made and the teachers I’ve met have made me the dancer I am today, and contribute to this Alaskan community greatly.”

“I like to move my body. It brings me happiness. I get my exercise in and have a lot of fun. I like laughing with my friends and learning new choreo. I like jazzy/funk and modern contemporary music the best. It’s fun trying different styles of dance. My favorite part about the Alaska dance community is the performances and competitions. It’s so much harder to place in the top 10 because everyone is so good. “
